No sooner had Mr Reader entreated the whole school to stack their chairs quietly at the end of the Spring Term’s final assembly than the senior hockey and netball squads were on the coach to Heathrow Airport to board the flight to Vancouver.
In all, forty-two students and six staff made the trans-Atlantic crossing for ten days of excellent Hockey and Netball, snow-tubing at Whistler, whale watching (unsuccessfully!) in the North Pacific, scaling high peaks in cable cars….
All three of our teams fared well on tour. The senior girls’ hockey team played five, won one, drew one and lost three. The senior netball played three very tough matches, winning one and narrowly losing the other two. The boys’ 1st XI played four, won one, drew one and lost two. It was testament to the quality of the sides that we took on tour that the home teams saw fit to put out their very strongest players.
A loyal supporters’ club of (noisy) travelling parents made many of the matches feel like home fixtures.

Below is a small selection of photos taken on tour. If you would like to see the complete set of photos or, more importantly, if you have some of your own that you’d like to add to the archive please get in touch with me (Mr Wood) at mw@reigategrammar.org

The staff involved were Mr Nicholson, Mr and Mrs Mitchell, Mrs Bader, Miss Teesdale and myself. Both staff and students returned very tired but nonetheless ready to share stories of a really fantastic tour.

Many thanks to Mr Nicholson for the countless hours of hard work that went into its organisation.
